Hard Work Hardly Works: Toboso once stated that the troupe had to put in tremendous effort in order to stay in Kelvin's favor as well as to maintain the charade of being a normal traveling circus.William even sums this up right before he leaves the circus and prepares to reap the souls of everyone at Baron Kelvin's manor. The narrative makes it clear that the circus troupe's involvement in the kidnappings were not justified and that their ultimate fates were the results of the poor decisions they made. Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Mixes with No Sympathy.If only had they known the Renbon Workhouse and the children there were long gone. Joker and the others clearly hated to do it, but Kelvin used the children at the Renbon Workhouse as bribe to make them continue. Forced into Evil: Their "father" forced them to kidnap children and kill any witnesses.Facial Markings: The first-string circus members have them as part of their makeover.Everything was going well until Baron Kelvin went insane over Ciel and started forcing the circus members to kidnap children. Baron Kelvin found them and took them in, giving them a better life. Dark and Troubled Past: All of the first-string circus members minus Snake were originally Street Urchins, abandoned by society because of their cripplings and disfigurements.Anti Villains: All the first-stringers except Snake kidnapped children and killed anyone who got in their way on Baron Kelvin's orders, but certainly did not take pleasure in doing so.They assume Kelvin allowed the Doctor to kill the children living there for his experiments with Artificial Limbs. After all the first-stringers (except Snake) die because of it, Ciel and Sebastian find the workhouse in ruin. All for Nothing: They believed they were protecting the Renbourn Workhouse's residents by carrying out child kidnappings for Kelvin.
